Expression Outreach Inc. is a nonprofit organization formed in 2021 by life-long west side residents in response to the rising tide of urban violence disproportionately impacting underserved and marginalized communities in Chicago. The founders are survivors of violence. They experienced the loss of family members to gun violence including suicide. The shared experiences of the founders give Expression the foundation for success. They understand, first-hand, the negative outcomes associated with the absence of violence intervention and prevention. They work assiduously to provide community youth with alternatives to violence and criminal activities.

 

Expression is dedicated to empowering youth and young adults through mentorship and education. Administering a Community-Based Violence Intervention and Prevention program to serve the most disadvantaged west side communities in Chicago. With focus on youth between the ages of 11 and 18 in hopes of providing healthy alternatives to violence and gang involvement. Expression aligns with secondary prevention strategies: Intervening with individuals or groups at high risk. Targeting those who are at an elevated risk of experiencing or perpetrating violence. Consisting of trauma-informed services and evidence-informed violence prevention efforts.
